SUMMARY
Tiffany Salayer is a trial attorney at the firm’s Nevada office. Ms. Salayer’s practice focuses on entertainment law, general business litigation, and public entity liability. Ms. Salayer has represented a wide array of individuals, institutions, non-profit organizations, public entities, and corporations in a variety of civil actions, and defended individuals and public entities in criminal actions. She also frequently assists clients with copyrights and trademark issues, including registration and defense/prosecution of infringement claims.
Ms. Salayer is a seasoned attorney. Prior to joining Collins + Collins, she handled a variety of litigation claims in state and federal courts, including intellectual property disputes, labor and employment, commercial litigation, contract disputes, special education and white collar crime. Ms. Salayer’s diverse experience combined with her passion for litigation has helped her excel in obtaining the best outcomes for her clients. Ms. Salayer earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from San Diego State University. She then went on to obtain her Juris Doctor degree at University of San Diego, School of Law. Ms. Salayer is admitted to the State Bar in both California and Nevada and the United States District Court for the Southern, Northern and Central Districts of California.
EXPERIENCE
Dismissal and Favorable Settlement of Native American Tribe in Employment Litigation Cases: Ms. Salayer handled multiple employment litigation cases on behalf of a Native American Tribe. Ms. Salayer successfully obtained a complete dismissal in the Southern District of California and obtained a favorable settlement in a state court case.
Acquittal in Criminal Trial: Ms. Salayer represented a German exporter and obtained judgment of acquittal on all criminal charges in jury trial.
Successful Defense in Environmental Management and Waste Disposal Matter: Ms. Salayer successfully defended client in one of the largest criminal cases in Orange County, California regarding allegations of improper environmental management and waste disposal.
Reversal of Denial of Death-Row Inmate Petition: Ms. Salayer represented a death row inmate in his post-conviction habeas appeal to the Ninth Circuit in which the Ninth Circuit reversed the district court’s denial of his petition and remanded with instructions to grant the writ based on Ms. Salayer’s briefing.
Favorable Settlements and Dismissals in Copyright, Trademark, and/or Patent Infringement Cases: Ms. Salayer represented a small business owner in a copyright infringement case. Plaintiff alleged client had committed copyright infringement by allowing advertisements for events on client’s Facebook page. Ms. Salayer obtained a complete dismissal for her client.
Ms. Salayer represented a company in two copyright infringement cases in the Southern District of California. Wherein owners of photographs alleged client’s technology violated their copyrights. The proprietary technology at issue displayed thumbnails of images to assist end users in searching eBay listings. Ms. Salayer successfully settled both cases in her client’s favor.
Ms. Salayer represented a small company in a copyright infringement case wherein a photographer claimed her client did not have a right to use an image on the client’s website. Client’s website advertised for the venue in the image. Ms. Salayer obtained a favorable settlement for her client.
Ms. Salayer represented a contractor against allegations of copyright infringement by a photographer. The contractor had performed work on a building and used an image of the building on its website. Ms. Salayer obtained a favorable settlement for client at the Early Neutral Evaluation Conference.
Ms. Salayer represented and drafted a complaint for a company to enforce its copyright and trademarks against a competitor. Competitor copied client’s logo and branding. Ms. Salayer obtained a favorable settlement for her client including a permanent injunction.
Ms. Salayer represented a startup company in a copyright and trade secret litigation case. Wherein Plaintiff alleged client had copied Plaintiff’s product packaging and website to create a competing product and brand. Ms. Salayer used technology to show her client had not copied from Plaintiff and obtained a favorable settlement for her client.
Ms. Salayer represented a global company against alleged violations of trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, intentional interference with contract and patent infringement brought by a competitor. The allegations involved product technology and was resolved via a favorable settlement.
Ms. Salayer represented large private company in patent infringement case in Southern District of Indiana. Ms. Salayer obtained a complete dismissal on behalf of her client.
Ms. Salayer represented local company in trademark infringement case. Ms. Salayer obtained judgement in favor of her client.
Ms. Salayer represented global manufacturer in multiple TTAB matters, including oppositions to trademark applications. Ms. Salayer had multiple successes including refusal to register trademarks and abandonment of trademark applications in client’s favor.
Ms. Salayer represented global fitness manufacturer in multiple Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy proceedings. Ms. Salayer successfully obtained domains from prior registrant and transferred domains to client.
